6 July, Minsk /BELTA/. Roads to regional centres of Belarus will be reconstructed by 2015. This was reported to the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on 6 July during a visit to Shklov, BELTA was informed by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
Vice-Premier Anatoly Kalinin reported to the Head of State on the development of the republican road network until 2020. As a result, it is planned to create a network of roads of increased comfort in Belarus and ensure greater road safety. Alexander Lukashenko instructed to ensure proper quality in carrying out this work and reasonable spending of financial resources.
In Shklov, the President opened the reconstructed bridge over the Dnieper River. The bridge was built in 1962. During its operation, various defects appeared, affecting the safety and durability of the structure. In addition, the load-bearing capacity parameters and the dimensions of the carriageway ceased to comply with modern regulatory requirements. For these reasons, the Head of State instructed to reconstruct the bridge. Currently, work on the reconstruction of supports and installation of span structures, laying of the bridge deck, arrangement of sidewalks and lighting, and construction of approaches has been completed. As a result of the bridge reconstruction, Shklov has received a reliable transport network across the Dnieper, which also ensures the prospect of developing the embankment zone on the right bank of this river and creates a basis for further socio-cultural development of the Dnieper region - one of the most picturesque in Belarus.
The bridge over the Dnieper in Shklov is an important and already functioning element of the state program "Roads of Belarus for 2006-2015" in terms of artificial structures and one of the key components of the development of the republican transport infrastructure.
The Head of State familiarized himself with the socio-economic development of the Shklov district, communicated with representatives of the work collectives of road organizations that participated in the bridge reconstruction, and residents of Shklov.
One of the topics of conversation was the implementation of investment projects in the district, including in agriculture. The Head of State confirmed that his position is unchanged – an investor working in Belarus must fulfill his obligations, and such cooperation should be beneficial both for the investor himself and for the state. "Our interest must be impeccably observed," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko.
The President also inquired about the development of the industrial sector in the district, particularly paper production. According to local management, the newsprint mill is operating stably. The workforce of the "Spartak" paper mill is also successfully mastering production capacities. The district plans to further develop this sector in the future.
The discussion also touched upon the production of agricultural products and their subsequent sale in domestic and foreign markets. "Currently, there is enough of everything. We need to transport it where there is demand and sell it at a higher price so that people have a decent salary," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko.
As reported by the Governor of the Mogilev region, Petr Rudnik, the average salary in the region currently exceeds Br3.2 million. By the end of the year, it is planned to increase it to the equivalent of $500. In this regard, Alexander Lukashenko once again warned that wage growth must be accompanied by an increase in labor productivity and enterprise profitability. "There is no 'easy money'; no one will give you money from outside, let alone print it," noted the President.
The Head of State actively inquired about the concerns of local residents. Deviating from the planned program, Alexander Lukashenko walked along one of Shklov's central streets, approaching and interacting with people gathered near the reconstructed bridge. The President also visited a local grocery store, where he familiarized himself with the range of goods offered.
It is planned that in the evening, the Head of State will attend the traditional "Kupalye" festival ("Alexandria Gathers Friends") in the Shklov district. One of the central events of the festival will be a concert program by artists from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine, "Slavyanski Karagod at the Kupalye Festival." -0-
