High crop yields and livestock productivity will ensure wage growth in agricultural production, emphasized the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, at the official ceremony to see off the Vitebsk region delegation to the republican festival-fair of agricultural workers "Dazhynki-2012", a BELTA correspondent reports. "The Vitebsk region can and must achieve a gross grain harvest of 2 million tons, reach a yield of at least 40 centners per hectare and milk yields of over 5 thousand kg per cow," the governor is confident. To achieve the set tasks, work will continue to increase land fertility, and the machine and tractor fleet will be modernized. Next year, it will be replenished with 500 harvesters. In 2013, it is planned to complete the construction of 35 grain drying complexes. Significant renewal awaits the livestock industry. In addition to the reconstruction of 228 dairy farms, which will be completed by the end of the current year, construction of 77 new dairy complexes has begun in the region. Despite the fact that a system of land cultivation and crop production has been established in the region, which includes 500 thousand hectares of grain crops, 100 thousand hectares of corn, 100 thousand hectares of rapeseed, 20 thousand hectares of flax, and 5 thousand hectares of potatoes, work on bringing unused agricultural land into circulation will continue. By next season, it is planned to bring 115 thousand hectares of land into agricultural circulation. These areas will be used for growing leguminous crops, which will increase the protein content in animal feed and, in turn, increase their productivity. The active development of agricultural production stimulates the development of processing enterprises. In the region, 8 milk processing plants and 4 meat processing plants have been modernized. The reconstruction of the Braslav branch of the Glubokoye dairy and canning plant is being completed. The Postavy dairy plant is also implementing a renewal program. All these efforts will not only ensure food security but also help revive the village, emphasized Alexander Kosinets. "Everything is aimed at making the village live and develop, so that people feel comfortable," he said. The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, in the person of the delegation members of the region to the festival-fair, thanked all the rural workers for their work. This year, the region received the largest grain and leguminous crop harvest in the last 36 years, amounting to 1 million 373 thousand tons in all categories of farms. -0-
