Wage growth in Belarus will depend on labour productivity, stated the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko today at a press conference for representatives of Belarusian and foreign media, BelTA reports. "The main economic law on the correlation between wage growth and labour productivity will be strictly observed," the head of state emphasized. "This is one of the fundamental laws: if you work more, you get more; if you don't work more, then you won't get more. We will be guided by these fundamental laws." According to the President, wages in the country should grow, but only when they are earned. "If there is money in the budget, we will give the last kopeck, the last ruble to the people," he stressed. At the same time, the head of state noted that wages and pensions in the country were increased this year without using the emission mechanism. "When we talk about increasing wages and pensions, we have done it several times this year and have not used emission money," he said. "We are increasing wages today, albeit little by little, as well as pensions and benefits, but only when we have the money." It is important that wage growth in Belarus is accompanied by production growth, emphasized Alexander Lukashenko. "We must have enough goods so that there is no imbalance," he said. "Money can be obtained for the budget by squeezing enterprises and increasing taxes, taking the last from them and giving it to the people, but ruining production.
