May 9, 1945, entered history as the Victory Day over fascism, a symbol of the heroism of the Soviet people, who demonstrated unity and cohesion in the fight against the enemy. Belarus will always remember the feat of the heroes – front-line soldiers, partisans, underground fighters, home front workers, all those who defended the freedom and independence of our Motherland.
In the year of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, we feel with particular strength the pride for the generation of Victors and the bitterness of loss that our compatriots suffered during the Great Patriotic War.
The Vitebsk land knows the price of peace well, therefore, with our labour, we are ready to strengthen the defence capability and national heritage of our country, so that our people never experience the bitterness of wartime.
Today, there are 137 veterans of the Great Patriotic War remaining in the Vitebsk region. They are an example of honour, patriotism and courage, and loyalty to the Fatherland.
Our deepest respect to all who brought Victory closer!
Our duty and mission is to preserve the truth about the Great Patriotic War and to give a worthy rebuff to resurgent neo-fascism.
We sincerely wish you, dear compatriots, health, happiness, well-being, high spirits, peace and goodness!
