Citizens are encouraged to voluntarily surrender any nets, net materials, and netting devices they may possess. It is not widely known that even old, inherited nets stored in an attic can lead to legal proceedings. Surrendering your "arsenal" of netting devices can be done absolutely without consequences, provided it is done voluntarily. In such cases, individuals will not be held liable for storing prohibited fishing gear.
