Many pedestrians are unaware of this, thereby endangering themselves. When approaching a pedestrian crossing, drivers must carefully observe the behaviour of pedestrians or drivers of other vehicles. If a nearby vehicle brakes, it is possible that it is stopping to allow a pedestrian to pass, so in this situation, it is advisable to slow down and, having confirmed the absence of pedestrians, continue driving.
