Of the specified number of accidents, 44 occurred at unregulated pedestrian crossings, leading to 3 fatalities and 42 injuries.

In December 2019, 35 road traffic accidents involving pedestrians were registered in the Vitebsk region, resulting in 5 fatalities and 32 injuries. 18 accidents during the specified period were caused by violations of pedestrian crossing rules. In December of the current year, 2 fatal accidents were registered.

To enhance the effectiveness of accident prevention measures involving pedestrians, prevent the escalation of adverse road traffic conditions, and foster mutual courtesy among road users, a comprehensive set of preventive measures aimed at preventing accidents involving vulnerable road users is being conducted in the Vitebsk region from December 10, 2020.

The preventive measures are intended to once again draw the attention of this category of road users to the necessity of strictly adhering to safe road behaviour rules.
