From April 15, a ban on pike-perch fishing will be in effect due to its spawning period.

To preserve the zander population and create favourable conditions for its reproduction, including during the pre-spawning and post-spawning periods, a ban on fishing for zander is established in the fishing grounds of Belarus from April 15 to May 30. In case of unintentional catch of zander, the fish must be released.

For illegal removal of zander during the specified period, liability is provided under Part 1 of Article 16.25 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus, with a fine of 10 to 30 base units, and confiscation of fishing gear is also possible. In addition, for each zander caught during the ban, compensation for the damage caused must be paid at a triple rate – 18 base units or 522 rubles. If the total amount of damage exceeds 100 base units, a criminal case may be initiated.

Being in fishing grounds or on adjacent territory within a distance of up to 1 kilometre from the shoreline with fish, the catching of which is currently prohibited (zander), without documents confirming the legality of possession of the fish, is qualified under Part 3 of Article 16.25 of the Code of Administrative Offences and entails a fine of 5 to 30 base units.
