From 23 to 26 June 2022, the Department of Road Traffic Inspectorate of the Public Security Militia of the Lepel District Department of Internal Affairs will conduct preventive measures on the territory of Lepel District, aimed at preventing road traffic accidents involving and caused by vulnerable road users.
In January-May 2022, the Republic of Belarus saw a decrease in the number of road traffic accidents involving children, from 146 to 116, with fatalities decreasing from 7 to 6, and injuries from 152 to 119 among minors. However, in May alone, 48 minors were injured across the country.
A concerning situation regarding child road traffic injuries has also developed in the Vitebsk region, where 1 child, a moped driver, was killed. No accidents involving children have occurred in the territory of Lepel district.
Drivers were at fault in 78 out of 116 child accidents; more than half, 59 minors, were injured as pedestrians. 44 children were injured as passengers, with every second minor passenger being transported in violation of established rules, and 17 injured children were travelling by bicycle.

To ensure timely response to the noted and other challenges and threats to children's safety on the road, and to enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies in eliminating the causes and conditions of child road traffic injuries, a summer republican preventive campaign "Children are Safe in Summer!" will be held from June 15 to August 15, 2022. This campaign is aimed at preventing road traffic accidents involving minors. Also, from June 23 to June 26, 2022, officers of the Department of State Automobile Inspectorate of the Public Security Militia of the Lepel District Department of Internal Affairs will conduct preventive measures to prevent traffic accidents involving and caused by vulnerable road users. These measures are aimed at preventing and suppressing instances of persons being on the roadway while intoxicated, compliance with traffic rules regarding crossing the roadway, and equipping bicycles and horse-drawn vehicles in accordance with traffic rules.
