To draw public attention to child road safety and increase the vigilance of drivers and parents on the eve of the start of the academic year, the campaign "Attention - Children!" is being held.
Its aim is to prevent and warn against child road traffic injuries.
During these days, vehicles are required to travel in daylight with dipped headlights or daytime running lights switched on (clause 166.9 of the Traffic Regulations of the Republic of Belarus) to attract the attention of children and all road users.
Since the beginning of the year, 4 children have died and 26 children have been injured in 27 accidents in the Vitebsk region.
Parents must daily remind young road users of the rules of safe behaviour on the street and ensure that children follow them, as daily reminders about safety will protect minors from dangers on the road.
Drivers, when operating a vehicle, should exercise particular caution in courtyards, near populated areas, schools, and when approaching intersections and pedestrian crossings.
