The main goal of this event is the prevention and prophylaxis of child road traffic injuries. The preventive campaign is designed to draw public attention to the issue of ensuring children's safety on the road and to increase the level of responsibility of parents and drivers.

In the elapsed period of 2024, 14 road traffic accidents involving minors occurred in the Vitebsk region. Specifically, in these 14 accidents, 7 child pedestrians, 5 child passengers, 2 child cyclists, and 1 child driver were injured.

During the campaign days, vehicles must travel with their low beam headlights on during daylight hours (Clause 166.9 of the Traffic Regulations). Special attention will be paid to drivers observing speed limits, rules for passing pedestrian crossings, and the safe transportation of children.

The State Automobile Inspectorate urges drivers to be extremely attentive when driving near children's institutions, passing unregulated pedestrian crossings, transport stops, and in courtyards.

In accordance with Part 3 of Article 18.13 of the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offences, violation of the aforementioned clause of the Traffic Regulations entails administrative liability in the form of a fine of up to 3 base units.

Dear parents! Do not forget to remind your children of the simple rules of safe behaviour on streets and roads. Strive to make compliance with the Traffic Regulations a habit and a norm of behaviour on the street. And do not violate the Traffic Regulations yourselves, for the sake of your children's safety. Remember that children under 12 years of age must be secured in a child restraint system appropriate for their weight and build. The only exception is when the child's height exceeds 150 cm. A restraint system and a seat belt (which all passengers must use) will save lives in over 80% of cases in the event of an accident.

Protect children and remember that they are always watching you. They are not afraid, they do not know danger. They just imitate. Be a worthy example for your child.
