The main goal of this event is the prevention and prophylaxis of child road traffic injuries. The preventive campaign is designed to draw public attention to the issue of ensuring children's safety on the road and to increase the level of responsibility of parents and drivers.
In the elapsed period of 2023, 8 road traffic accidents involving minors occurred in the Vitebsk region (7 RTAs in 2022), in which 10 minors were injured, and one child died.
During the campaign days, vehicles must travel with low beam headlights switched on during daylight hours (Clause 166.9 of the Traffic Regulations). Special attention will be paid to drivers observing the speed limit, the rules for passing pedestrian crossings, and the safe transportation of children.
The State Automobile Inspectorate urges drivers to be extremely attentive when driving near children's institutions, passing unregulated pedestrian crossings, transport stops, and in courtyards.
In accordance with Part 3 of Article 18.13 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus, a violation of the aforementioned clause of the Traffic Regulations is punishable by an administrative penalty in the form of a warning or a fine of up to 3 base units.
Dear parents! Do not forget to remind your children of the simple rules of safe behaviour on streets and roads. Ensure that compliance with the Traffic Regulations becomes a habit and a norm of behaviour on the street. And do not violate the Traffic Regulations yourselves, for the sake of your children's safety. Remember that children under 12 years of age must be in a child restraint system appropriate for their weight and build. The only exception is when the child's height exceeds 150 cm. A restraint system and a seat belt (which all passengers must use) will save lives in over 80% of cases in the event of an RTA.
Protect children and remember that they are always looking at you. They are not afraid, they do not know danger. They simply imitate. Be a worthy example for your child.
