From 8 to 10 October, the traffic police of the Vitebsk region will conduct a set of preventive measures to prevent road traffic accidents involving pedestrians.

Since the beginning of the year, 79 accidents have been registered in the Vitebsk region, in which 18 pedestrians died and 67 sustained injuries of varying severity.

For reference: on the morning of October 7, a 10-year-old girl was injured in Novopolotsk. The pedestrian was crossing the road at an unregulated pedestrian crossing near the "Naftan Hotel" bus stop. At that moment, a "Geely" driver hit her. The injured girl was hospitalised in the surgical department.

Traffic police officers will strengthen control to prevent violations on road sections and streets where there is a risk of hitting pedestrians. Inspectors will conduct raids to apprehend intoxicated pedestrians moving on the roadway, as well as those without reflective elements.
