To prevent fatalities on the water, employees of the OSVOD (Water Safety Society) and the ROVD (District Department of Internal Affairs) are conducting a raid on the waters of Lake Lepel.

The ice thickness varies even within the same body of water, which indicates danger. OSVOD urges the residents of the district not to forget about the rules of safe behaviour, and to especially watch over children.

In the Vitebsk region, 3 people fell through the ice and drowned while fishing.

During the period of intensive melting and ice destruction, it is forbidden to go out on the ice! It harbours dangers that can lead to the most tragic consequences.

In accordance with the decision of the Lepel District Executive Committee No. 1239 dated November 17, 2023, based on clause 35 of the rules for the protection of human life on water, approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated August 18, 2023 No. 543, a ban has been established on entering the ice cover of surface water bodies of the Lepel district during periods of formation and (or) destruction of ice cover, as well as when the thickness of the crystalline ice cover does not reach 7 cm (for one person).
