The working visit of the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, to Russia has concluded, according to BELTA.

The President arrived in Moscow on October 7. On Monday evening, a dinner was held with the participation of the CIS leaders. The heads of state had the opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues in an informal setting, and also to congratulate their Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on his birthday.
The following day, Aleksandr Lukashenko told journalists that he had presented Vladimir Putin with "a very serious, original, and special gift" made by Belarusian craftsmen. However, he did not specify what it was.

Regarding the topics of informal communication, the President stated: "From geopolitics to specific internal issues. But the main thing is, let's be together."

On October 8, an official CIS summit was held in the Kremlin. In his speech, the head of the Belarusian state proposed to consider how to more effectively use the potential of regional integration. "The common goal is clear. We need a strong union of strong, economically self-sufficient sovereign states. We constantly talk about equal conditions and respect for national interests. Much has already been done, but there is still something to strive for," said Aleksandr Lukashenko.

In this regard, he outlined several areas. These include strengthening the international status of the CIS; countering the imposition of foreign extremist ideologies and attempts to involve citizens in unlawful activities, including terrorism; achieving technological sovereignty within the Commonwealth space; and promoting and cultivating our own value system.

At the summit, Alexander Lukashenko sincerely and movingly presented the joint Address to the peoples of the Commonwealth countries and the world community on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. This was one of the agenda items at the expanded meeting. The President emphasized that memory can be stolen, but not the truth: "Without the heroism of the Soviet people, there would be no states and people who are doing everything to discredit the feat of the Soviet people and take away our Great Victory, which unites us so much. We know why. The historical righteousness of our peoples is an obstacle to the implementation of the long-term geopolitical plans of the West, which leave no room for other strong powers."

On the last day of his working visit, Alexander Lukashenko met with Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin. Members of the delegations from both sides also participated in the event.

The President of Belarus supported the thesis of his Russian counterpart that the world is changing at a furious pace. In this regard, new threats and new opportunities are emerging. "Naturally, there are issues that need to be resolved. And no matter how often we meet, half of our conversations are always about internal affairs: the well-being of Belarusians and Russians. And security issues," said Alexander Lukashenko. "I believe that we have very few issues. Two or three issues that we will discuss with you today. And we need to dot the i's on these issues and move forward in our relations."
