October 24, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. Meetings of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council at the level of heads of state and the Council of CIS Heads of State will be held on October 24 and 25 in Minsk at the Palace of Independence, the Belarusian leader's press service informed BELTA.
The main issue to be discussed at the meeting on October 24 will be the development of integration and the progress of work on the draft treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union.
In addition, it is planned to consider issues related to the model law "On Competition", the procedure for the movement of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances within the Customs Union, the execution of the budget of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and a number of other topics.
The meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State, which will be held on October 25, will be a key event within the framework of the Republic of Belarus's chairmanship in the Commonwealth in 2013.
The Belarusian chairmanship is held under the motto "Integration for the Benefit of People: Strengthening Good-Neighborliness, Developing Economic Cooperation, Promoting Increased Accessibility of Environmental "Green" Technologies, Expanding Cultural Dialogue". The plan for the implementation of the Belarusian chairmanship in the CIS includes over 70 events of an economic, environmental, humanitarian, and interregional nature.
The summit agenda includes 14 items covering various areas of activity from humanitarian cooperation to interaction on security issues and economic relations.
It is planned to approve programs on cooperation in combating terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism for 2014-2016, and on cooperation in combating illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and countering drug addiction for 2014-2018.
It is also proposed to discuss the Interstate Program of Joint Measures to Combat Crime for 2014-2018, and the Program of Cooperation of the CIS member states in combating trafficking in persons for the same period.
It is expected that the heads of state will approve the Agreement on the Establishment of the Interstate Council for Combating Corruption and the Concept of Cooperation in Combating Crimes Committed Using Information Technologies.
