The Lepel Inter-district Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora informs that from March 29, 2019, the Instruction on methods and devices for collecting wild berries in the forest fund came into force. The Instruction establishes requirements for methods and devices for collecting wild berries in the forest fund.

In accordance with the Instruction, berries are collected when ripe, manually and (or) using hand-held devices within the established periods.

Berry collection with a hand-held device is carried out with movements from bottom to top.

When collecting blueberries and bilberries, the device is directed at an angle to the upper part of the bush. The ingress of the thick lower part of the shoot into the teeth is not allowed.

When collecting cranberries, the device moves along the surface of the moss and cranberry shoots.

A device for collecting wild berries consists of teeth, a collection container, a holder (handle) and meets the following requirements:

– the distance between the teeth is at least 0.5 cm;

– the body of the device and the teeth are made of plastic, metal, wood, rubber, or a combination thereof;

– the devices have no cutting edges in the berry picking zone.
