The project is being implemented by the Polotsk District Culture Center in collaboration with the Skif-Polotsk TV company. "Nadzejka's Tasty Journey" is a unique video catalogue of local ethnic dishes.
According to the authors' concept, young people are learning the recipes and cooking techniques for unique dishes from elderly residents. The main character of the series is a city girl named Nadya. Today (March 13), she will be introduced to Olga Chobot, a folklorist from the agro-town of Bliznitsa, the founder of the "Babyn Kut" ethnographic museum with ancient Belarusian household items, and also the head of the "Bliznyanka" folklore ensemble of the Silnitsky Rural House of Culture. The woman will share recipes for two ancient Lenten dishes – she will explain and demonstrate how to prepare potato mash with poppy seeds and fish soup with sorrel ("sorrel with dried salted fish").
As previously reported, the first recording of the project took place at the end of January, when the oldest residents of the village of Bogatyrskaya revealed the secrets of preparing potato "tsibryki" and the "Rovgenya" drink made from rye flour.
It is planned that the project authors will visit various settlements in the district throughout the year to collect as many recipes of local cuisine as possible.
