On November 12, Minsk / Ekaterina Nechaeva - BELTA /. Six contenders for the post of President of Belarus have submitted documents to the Central Election Commission for registration as candidates. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Nikolai Lozovik, Secretary of the Central Commission for Elections and National Referendums. The Central Election Commission has received the necessary registration documents from the incumbent head of state, Alexander Lukashenko, as well as from Yaroslav Romanchuk, Vitaly Rymashevsky, Andrei Sannikov, Nikolai Statkevich, and Vladimir Provalsky. However, the latter has no chance of being registered as a candidate, as the required number of signatures in his support has not been collected. By November 13, all contenders for the presidential post must submit to the CEC a written statement of consent to run for president, a questionnaire with biographical data, and a declaration of income and property (of the person nominated as a candidate, his spouse, adult close relatives living with him and maintaining a common household). During the current election campaign, potential candidates will be allowed to make a 20% error in calculating their total annual income, and this will not be a reason for refusal of registration. The registration of candidates is tentatively scheduled for November 18. For the first time in Belarus, 10 people have a real chance of becoming candidates.
