Sixteen directors from Belarus will present new films during a pitching session at the XXIII Minsk International Film Festival "Listapad", the film forum's organisers informed BELTA.
This year, the festival, running from November 5 to 10, features an industry platform that includes an educational pitching session and "script matchmaking". The pitching session will commence on November 10 at the Mikhail Savitsky Gallery. Sixteen Belarusian directors will present new films to industry professionals from the global film industry. Among the participants are well-known directors, winners of the national "Listapad-2015" competition. Alongside acclaimed directors, emerging filmmakers will also present their projects. From 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, pitching participants will discuss their future film projects.
Mentors will include Viktor Nordenshield, a Swedish producer and documentary filmmaker, and Alex Shiryaev, a director, documentary film producer, and founder of the B2B Doc documentary filmmakers' association. The best projects will be presented and winners awarded following the day's work.
Regarding "script matchmaking", organisers believe it promises to be an equally significant event of the industry platform on November 10. The new format is aimed at promoting and unlocking the potential of Belarusian screenwriters. Natalia Baraboshkina, Kirill Vevel, Pavel Rassolko, Vitaly Giron, and Denis Grinevich will present their scripts to directors and producers. A reading of scenes from scripts by Daria Klinova, Sofia Fomina, and Olga Drachuk by actors is planned. Playwright and director Viktor Krasovsky will present selected scenes from the play "Patris", a documentary theatre production about homeland and patriotism.
Overall, the organisers of the industry platform intend to foster professional communication between directors, producers, and screenwriters.
The XXIII Minsk International Film Festival "Listapad" will conclude on November 11, with the closing film being "Afterimage" by renowned Polish film director Andrzej Wajda. The closing ceremony of "Listapad-2016" will take place at the "Moskva" cinema.
The main film event of the year is directed by the Visual and Performing Arts Centre "ART Corporation". The forum is organised by the Ministry of Culture, the Minsk City Executive Committee with the participation of the Belarusian Television and Radio Company, the National Film Studio "Belarusfilm", and the Belarusian Union of Cinematographers.
