May 2, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Schoolchildren of the Vitebsk region have created 250 postcards for the London Olympics, the press service of the NOC representative office in the Vitebsk region informed a BELTA correspondent.
Olympic postcards, made using various techniques (drawing, paper sculpture, thread design, vytynanka, wood carving), were sent to the creative competition by schoolchildren from 27 cities and district centers of the Vitebsk region.
Today, the ceremonial opening of the exhibition of works submitted for the competition will take place at the Y. Mavr Vitebsk Library, where 65 of the most interesting examples will be presented. The winners of the creative competition have been determined in the age categories of 6-9 years, 10-13 years, and 14-16 years. In a solemn ceremony, the competition prize-winners will read out the texts for their postcards. Then, the messages will be handed over to the athletes from the Vitebsk region representing Belarus at the Olympic Games in London.
The event is held with the aim of developing the creative potential of the younger generation and a deeper study of issues related to the Olympic movement. Its organizers are the NOC representative office in the Vitebsk region and the education department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.-0-
