On September 5, Vitebsk /Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. In the current academic year, schoolchildren of the Vitebsk region will have the opportunity to "read the primers of the 20th century" - an interactive exhibition with this title has been organized by the Regional Institute for Education Development and the Museum of Education of the Vitebsk Region with the participation of the Vitebsk District Historical and Local Lore Museum. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the author of the idea and organizer of the exhibition, director of the Museum of Education, Tamara Marchik.
The exhibition is held in a playful format, only remotely resembling a lesson, directly in the school classroom. Museum workers come to the children with exhibits - and these are 32 primers published between 1900 and 2000. The exhibition is designed for schoolchildren from the 2nd grade and teachers, and not only those who teach the youngest students to read and write. This is the main idea of the exposition - to introduce children to the primers that were published in different periods of the past 20th century. Holding a primer that your grandmothers and great-grandfathers studied from is very interesting and exciting, Tamara Marchik is sure.
The exhibition features unique editions. For example, children have the opportunity to read a school psalter published in 1910, which was used to teach children to read in a parish school. There is a primer for adults, published in the 50s-60s of the last century. One of the primers lacks words, and the student is invited to independently compose stories about letters using the printed pictures. However, Tamara Marchik considers all exhibits to be unique in their own way; they provide an opportunity to trace how the appearance and content of the first textbook for each of us have changed over time.
During the excursion-lesson, it is possible to simultaneously conduct a reading speed test with a historical excursion and assess the children's ability to think figuratively. A competition for guessing riddles contained in primers from different times is also held in an engaging way, and students of the 21st century do not always manage to find answers to riddles from the past.
In the new academic year, the organizers of the interactive exhibition intend to provide the opportunity to read primers of the past in all schools of the region. In the future, it is planned to hold an exhibition "We Solve Arithmetic", during which mathematical tasks from textbooks of the 50s of the 20th century will be performed, including with the help of special children's abacuses with beads, Tamara Marchik noted. -0-
