This was stated today by the Minister of Education of Belarus, Sergey Maskevich, at a meeting with teachers in Grodno. In the regional center, he also held a reception of citizens on personal matters, reports a BELTA correspondent. According to the minister, there is a rather high percentage of dropouts in the country's higher education institutions. In some universities, it reaches 10%. Many leave already in the second or third year and are left with nothing – without education and a basic profession. "In many ways, this is evidence that the student was not properly oriented at school," believes Sergey Maskevich. "Today, the teacher must help the student get the right career guidance, taking into account the needs of the real sector of the economy. The teacher must explain that one can first obtain a basic profession, perhaps work for a while, and then it makes sense to storm the universities. For some, this will be the best option. Otherwise, it turns out that students, often on a fee-paying basis, find themselves without a place of study, without knowledge and skills in the middle of the year." The minister also emphasized that secondary education institutions need to establish interaction with higher education institutions to solve the problems of such former students. In the country, the trajectory of obtaining higher education, taking into account the acquisition of a vocational qualification, will be supported in every possible way.
