On January 20, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. A headquarters for monitoring and eliminating the consequences of snowfall has been established in the Vitebsk region. The order on taking measures to prevent negative consequences of natural phenomena was signed today by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, BELTA was informed by the regional executive committee. In connection with adverse meteorological conditions associated with heavy snowfall and the predicted unstable weather in the near future, a headquarters has been established in the region to prevent negative consequences and ensure the stable functioning of life support facilities, and in pursuance of the telegram from the Council of Ministers. The headquarters is headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Anatoly Diulin. The headquarters includes the head of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the heads of the regional executive committee services responsible for public utilities, transport, healthcare, energy and fuel. Similar headquarters and working groups are being created in the districts of the region. Round-the-clock duty of equipment for clearing snow from roads, approaches to buildings, structures, and water supply sources is being organized in the region. The work of emergency dispatch services has been intensified, mobile boiler houses and autonomous power sources have been put on standby, and backup teams of emergency medical care have been provided for home visits to patients. In addition, work is being carried out to clear snow and ice from the roofs of residential buildings, structures, industrial and agricultural facilities. Residents of the region will be promptly informed about the developing meteorological situation. According to the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, a decade's worth of precipitation fell in Vitebsk over the past day. The snow cover in the regional center increased by 6 cm 19 mm. In general, across the region, the greatest snow depth was observed in the north of the region (about 15 cm), and the smallest (8-10 cm) in the southeast. The wind in some places reached 15-16 m/s. Similar unstable weather due to the intensification of cyclonic activity is expected in the coming days.
