On February 10, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. A set of measures to eliminate shortcomings in economic development in 2012 has been developed in the Vitebsk region. This was announced today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by its Chairman Alexander Kosinets, BELTA correspondent reports. In 2011, the region ensured positive dynamics in most socio-economic development parameters, and performance efficiency indicators improved. The targets set by the government for the specific weight of costs for acquiring machinery, equipment, and vehicles in the total volume of investment in fixed assets, sales profitability in agricultural organizations, the target indicator for energy saving, exports of goods and services for the Vitebsk region as a whole, including excluding oil, oil products and republican organizations, and the foreign trade balance of goods and services by organizations subordinate to the regional executive committee, have been met. 490.7 thousand sq. m of housing were commissioned, $21.4 million of direct foreign investment were attracted on a net basis, and the number of employed in the economy was 563 thousand people. Organizations in the region received Br1.9 trillion of net profit, which is 2.7 times more than in 2010. At the same time, the region met 10 out of 16 assigned indicators. Sales profitability remains low, and accounts receivable and payable are high. 31 organizations in the region, or 2.7% of the accounted number, operated at a loss. To eliminate these shortcomings, the regional executive committee intends to implement a set of measures in 2012. In particular, to increase the level of gross regional product per capita and the share of gross regional product in Belarus's GDP, it is proposed to ensure a construction and installation work growth rate of at least 110% compared to the 2011 level. Dyeing equipment will be commissioned at the finishing mill of the Orsha Flax Combine, which will allow for the additional production of 2,000 thousand linear meters of dyed fabrics. The production of high value-added products – a set of cabinet plastic products for the TRV-Philips company, and aluminum housing parts for car alternators – is planned to be mastered at OJSC "Vityaz". OJSC "Dolomit" intends to increase the production of dolomite flour in physical terms by at least 9.5% compared to the 2011 level.
