2.6 thousand people, including foreign guests, will take part in the forum, which will be held on December 12-13. Delegates from all regions of the country are expected to attend, as well as renowned scientists from the Union State, the CIS, leading foreign academies of sciences, and global research organizations and centers.
On the first day of the congress, delegates and invited guests will work in nine sections dedicated to the main directions of scientific development and international cooperation. The organization of a youth section is planned. The work of the sections will take place in the organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, as well as in organizations of other ministries and departments. The congress will feature the following sections: "Physics and Informatics in Future Technologies" (venue - Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences), "Engineering Sciences - Industry 4.0" (BSTU), "Modern Chemistry and Rational Nature Management" (BSU), "Modern Biotechnology" (Institute of Experimental Botany of the National Academy of Sciences); "Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences" (Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education), "Domestic Humanities - for Society" (Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus); "Innovative Agro-Industrial Complex" (SPC of the National Academy of Sciences for Agricultural Mechanization); "Youth and New Horizons of Science" (Lyceum of BSU), "International Scientific Cooperation at the Present Stage" (Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus). During the work of the last section, a meeting of the Council of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS) and a meeting of the Advisory Council on Intellectual Property Protection and Technology Transfer under the IAAS will be held. A thematic exhibition will be organized at each of the nine sections on December 12.
The plenary session will be held on December 13. A comprehensive interdepartmental exhibition will be opened at the venue. The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will implement a new concept of exhibition activities. The exhibition will be held under the slogan "Belarus Intellectual" and will consist of eight clusters related to the country's development priorities: Belarus as an IT country and artificial intelligence technologies, electric transport, electronics, nanotech industry and additive manufacturing, space technologies, unmanned robotic technologies, biotechnologies and pharmaceuticals, industrial technologies and new materials. A Belarusian personal supercomputer, an electric vehicle, an electric bicycle and their components, drones, solar cells, smart threads for the light industry will be presented, the capabilities of 3D printing from various materials will be demonstrated, and the results of the Belarusian Earth remote sensing spacecraft and the Belintersat-1 communication satellite will be shown.
During the congress, a unique publication will be presented - the book "Scientists Who Glorified Belarus". It tells about more than 150 outstanding figures of Belarusian science. The book was prepared and published in the Year of Science.
The key document to be submitted to the II Congress of Scientists of Belarus will be the draft strategy "Science and Technology: 2018-2040". Currently, this draft is undergoing public discussion. The strategy defines the priorities for the long-term development of science and technology, as well as a set of tools for improving the scientific and technical sphere, which will ensure a new quality of economic growth for Belarus and a future entry into the global level in several areas. The strategy was developed by scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, taking into account the comments and proposals received from government bodies, working groups, and individual scientists. It is expected that thanks to the implementation of the strategy, by 2040, the science intensity of GDP should reach 3%, the share of breakthrough scientific research and development - 30% of the total volume, the share of high-tech sectors in the economic structure - 10%. Innovative products will account for 25% of the total industrial output.
The congress will be the concluding event of the Year of Science. The congress will define the main and most relevant tasks and directions for the long-term development of the scientific sphere, including the expansion of international scientific and technical cooperation and the integration of domestic science into the global scientific space, will develop a concept for the country's long-term scientific and innovation security and a general strategy for the development and enhancement of the role of domestic science in the economy, its interaction with the real sector, the formation of an effective national innovation system and the progressive implementation of the knowledge economy model in Belarus.
