The Investigative Committee of Belarus is considering declaring a Russian national involved in the criminal case of the JV "Euro Trade Brest" a wanted person. This was announced by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Valery Vakulchik, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent. According to him, the investigation into this case is being conducted in active cooperation with the prosecutor's office. "This is an economic case. It is not easy to assess the actions of officials involved in it. Investigators are carrying out a very large volume of work, and have already established events that took place in the Russian Federation. We are now receiving supporting documents. Through the Prosecutor General's Office, cooperation with the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation has been organized, where our investigators' requests are being fulfilled to provide documents confirming the movement of funds and products," informed Valery Vakulchik, emphasizing that all this together allows for the collection of necessary evidence to give a final assessment of the officials' actions. "In addition, we are studying the actions of officials of state bodies of Belarus, and naturally, their actions must also be assessed - why this happened, why the impending problems were not noticed earlier, as tendencies towards this were emerging," added Valery Vakulchik. Criminal cases have been initiated against the former director of the meat processing JV "Euro Trade Brest" under the article for obtaining credit by deception, as well as against the founder of this enterprise, a Russian citizen, who artificially took measures to export products to Russia without payment of their cost. Thus, the total debt to the enterprise amounted to approximately $20 million. Currently, the issue of declaring the Russian national involved in this criminal case a wanted person is being considered. There is no need to detain others located in Belarus, noted the Chairman of the Investigative Committee. He also added that it is too early to talk about sending this case to court, as it is complex and requires verification of a large volume of information. In Vitebsk, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Valery Vakulchik, is participating today in a scheduled coordination meeting on the issue of organizing cooperation between the Investigative Committee and the prosecutor's offices in solving the tasks of combating crime and ways to improve the effectiveness of joint law enforcement activities. -0-
