The computer club "Pascal", led by Aliaksei Shauchenka, has been successfully operating for several years at the day care unit for disabled individuals of the Territorial Social Services Centre. Young people who are members of the district organizations of the Belarusian Association of Disabled People and the Belarusian Association of Visually Impaired are eager to attend the club and learn to use computers.
As part of the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, participants of the "Pascal" club, its leader Aliaksei Shauchenka, the chairperson of the district organization of the Belarusian Association of Visually Impaired Volha Sakalouskaya, and the head of the day care unit for disabled individuals Alena Pamiyatsikha took part in a Skype conference held at the multimedia centre of the Lepel Central District Hospital. Valentіna Zharnasek, a bibliographer from the service and information department of the central district library, provided significant assistance in organizing the Skype conference for people with disabilities.
Residents of Lepel participated in the Skype conference together with representatives of the information centre for people with disabilities from the Russian city of Balakhna. The Lepel residents spoke about their work, their vibrant creative lives, the organisation of the "Star of Hope" festival of creativity for disabled people, and their participation in district and regional tourist gatherings, etc.
Our Russian neighbours learned about the creative achievements of the Lepel residents and, in turn, spoke about the activities of their organisation for people with disabilities, in particular, their printing club. The Russians presented a book about the history and current life of the city of Balakhna to the Lepel residents.
The residents of Lepel and Russia agreed on further cooperation and deepening of creative ties.
