17 February, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Fairytale ice sculptures will adorn Vitebsk today, the Department for Youth Affairs and Defence Mobilisation Work of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. The competition for the best ice sculpture is traditionally held in the regional centre in the midst of winter. This year, 9 teams will test their skills, representing VSU named after P.M. Masherov, VSTU, vocational and technical education institutions, and city departments of culture and education. The total number of participants will be around 100 people. Ice was delivered to Pobedy Square in advance, so the contestants were able to check the sharpness and readiness of their tools the day before, having carried out rough preliminary processing of the material. Today, formless blocks will be transformed into a dragon, a convertible, a bison, a mammoth, a griffin, a fish, a swan, and a cannon with a hussar. The teams chose their compositions themselves, considering only one condition: the proposed character must be interesting to children. The competition results will be announced in the evening. Winners will be awarded diplomas and prizes. The competition is organised by the Department for Youth Affairs and Defence Mobilisation Work of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee.-0-
