Work on improving water quality continues in the Vitebsk region. This year, 40 iron removal stations will be commissioned. Construction of another 80 stations is underway using loan funds from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. This will improve the quality of water supply for 30,000 rural residents by 2022. In addition, in addition to the ongoing projects, opportunities have been found to finance the design documentation for stations in eight more settlements from the budget; these are also to be commissioned next year.
As noted by Vladimir Terentyev, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, the expanded list includes facilities in rural areas where the issue of providing the population with quality drinking water has been raised for several years by both residents of settlements and deputies of Councils at various levels.
Now there is an opportunity to solve this pressing issue for many by reallocating financial resources, the head of the regional parliamentary group revealed the details. Thus, the design of iron removal stations in Dymanovo (Vitebsk district), Babichi (Glubokoye district), Nurovo (Verkhnedvinsk district), Gorshchevshchina (Tolochn district), Skoga and Belaya Lipa (Sennno district), agro-towns Bildyugi (Sharkovshchina district) and Dobryn (Dubrovno district) will begin this year.
Also, at the expense of the budget, it is planned to complete the construction of water supply engineering infrastructure for the Vasyuta residential area in Vitebsk, the urban settlement of Sharkovshchina, and the village of Suykovo (Vitebsk district) this year.
Another new facility under the 2020 investment program is the slaughter and processing shop for pigs and cattle of UP "Orsha Meat Canning Plant". 2.4 million rubles are to be allocated for the construction of engineering, transport, and technological infrastructure for it.
