"Slavianski Bazaar" becomes more spectacular every year - Aniko Rekhviashvili

16 July, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. The international arts festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" is enhancing its spectacle. This opinion was shared with a BELTA correspondent regarding the forum by People's Artist of Ukraine, Professor, and jury member of the X International Children's Music Competition "Vitebsk-2012" Aniko Rehvashvili.
"This is my eighth or ninth time at the 'Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk', and I can confidently say that it is a professional festival, as evidenced by the number of participants representing 28 countries this year. It is important that throughout all the years of its existence, the forum has maintained its attitude and demand for professionalism, a serious approach to vocals, and at the same time, it is enhancing the level of showmanship and spectacle," said Aniko Rehvashvili. The artist admitted that she regards the Vitebsk festival more favourably than "Eurovision" because "Slavianski Bazaar" is based on professionalism and the purity of creativity.
As a jury member, Aniko Rehvashvili is participating in the International Children's Music Competition for the second time. "It is very pleasing that it is developing and growing. The children's competition has a new face, a new emphasis, because the programme that is unobtrusively offered to both children and jury members, the direction differs perceptibly from what it was before. Furthermore, noticeably more attention is being paid to the competition's conduct and organisation. The already pleasant atmosphere of this celebration has improved," stated the interviewee, emphasising that Belarus has always been distinguished by its ability to warmly and beautifully host its guests, but now this is acquiring a certain professional, masterful quality. The artist confessed that she is delighted with how the children's competition is organised and with what the organisers come up with.
Aniko Rehvashvili also noted that the jury members at the competition have a difficult task. "The strongest children come to the festival, and choosing a winner from among them is very challenging – they are all the best. There are no accidental children here. We feel this, and in Kyiv, we always try to prepare very seriously for the competition," she added.
The main director and stage designer, Irina Kovlena, based the anniversary International Children's Music Competition on the motif of the fairy tale "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by American writer L. Frank Baum. Over five hundred people are involved in the preparation and organisation of the competition. Traditionally, these include choreographic and musical ensembles from the "Vitebsk" Cultural Centre: the Honoured Amateur Ensemble of the Republic of Belarus, the "Zorka" choreographic ensemble, the "Yegoza" exemplary dance ensemble, the "Mozaika" exemplary ballroom dance ensemble, the Honoured Amateur Ensemble of the Republic of Belarus, the "Lyavonikha" dance ensemble, the "Forum" exemplary children's pop song studio, the "Koleso" folk youth theatre, and the best choreographic ensembles of the city: the "Pirouette" classical dance ensemble, the "Ladushki" exemplary dance ensemble, the "Sensatsiya" show ballet, and Anastasia Makhova's "Parallel" studio. The programme is enhanced by the student theatre of the Saint Petersburg University of Arts, familiar to the Vitebsk public, and the Moscow circus "Krakatuk".The draw for the competition took place yesterday in the Soviet Army Park. It is noteworthy that the usual excitement and tension among participants were not observed during this procedure: children were happily engaged in games, riding attractions and horses. No one felt lonely on the emerald glade, as each of the children was eagerly awaited and greeted by name, with their names loudly chanted by the fairy-tale characters from the Land of Oz. Having received a pair of magic slippers with their performance numbers, the young contestants launched balloons into the sky, on each of which they wrote their cherished wishes. -0-
