The district prosecutor's office, together with the military commissariat of Lepel and Ushachi districts, held a meeting with a presentation on military-patriotic education for graduates of the "Lepel State Agrarian-Technical College" educational institution and for conscripts of Lepel district at an event for the issuance of summonses.
Furthermore, responsibility for failure to appear without a valid reason at the military commissariat or for conscription events was explained. Article 25.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus provides for administrative liability with a fine, depending on the qualifying characteristics of the offence, of up to six base units. If a conscript deliberately evades conscription events, and their actions have hindered the conscription commission from making a decision on the citizen's fulfilment of military duty, they may be brought to criminal liability under Article 435 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. Part 1 of this article provides for punishment in the form of a fine, or arrest, or restriction of liberty for up to 2 years, or imprisonment for the same term. In case of evasion of conscription events by intentionally causing self-harm, simulating illness, forging documents, or other deception, such a conscript may be convicted under Part 2 of Article 435 of the Criminal Code to imprisonment for up to 5 years.
