On May 7, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Media should be interested in the pressing problems of people to help the authorities solve them. This point of view was expressed today at a meeting with media representatives of the Vitebsk region on the occasion of the professional holidays of the Press Day and the Day of Radio and Television Workers by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, BELTA correspondent reports.
The media take an active part in the socio-economic development of the region, providing the population of the region with reliable and objective information about the ongoing processes, and create a positive image of the region beyond its borders, the governor emphasized. At the same time, he considers one of the most important tasks of local newspapers and television to be the coverage of people's life issues. Moreover, the role of the media should not be limited to mere relaying: identification of causes, analysis, and proposal of solutions are necessary. "The journalistic word must be objective and truthful," Alexander Kosinets stressed.
Among the pressing problems that concern the residents of the region, to which journalists should pay more attention, the governor named wages and prices. He noted that wage growth should be directly dependent on the growth of labor productivity and quality. "You can earn good money in the Vitebsk region, but for this, you need to work," emphasized the chairman of the regional executive committee. In his opinion, construction organizations are working without strain, despite the large volumes of work. And out of 1051 units of equipment involved in the current sowing campaign, only 600 units are working in two shifts, which does not contribute to wage growth. Price increases are caused by objective reasons - the need to align them within the Single Economic Space, explained Alexander Kosinets.
The chairman of the regional executive committee also expressed concern about the state of demographic security in the region, the development of business and entrepreneurship. These and other issues should be at the center of journalists' attention, he noted.
During the meeting with media workers, the traditional honoring of the best editorial offices, television companies, and journalists of the region took place. -0-
