27 October, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Media should objectively reflect reality, said First Deputy Minister of Information Lilia Ananich to journalists today after a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, a BELTA correspondent reports.
Media are an important link in state information policy. "This is not the fourth estate, but partners of the authorities," added Lilia Ananich. "Media should objectively reflect reality. There is no need to hush up difficulties or avoid solving people's problems, but it is also unacceptable to stoop to the level of criticism," she stressed. Critical materials should be constructive and offer suggestions.
Lilia Ananich said that the Ministry of Information is implementing a major investment project in the Vitebsk region to replace equipment at the Novopolotsk printing house. In the near future, district newspapers in the northwestern part of the region will be able to be published in 16 pages in colour. "We need to think about what to fill these pages with, how to make them interesting. Currently, the level of some district newspapers in the region does not meet modern requirements," believes the First Deputy Minister.-0-
