Given the unfavourable operational situation in the district, and with the aim of monitoring the safety of living conditions for citizens and preventing fire fatalities in the Lepel district, a review commission worked throughout the weekend. The commission comprised employees of the district Emergency Situations Department, the territorial centre for social services to the population, the Internal Affairs Department, the Housing and Communal Services, and representatives of village councils.
The review commissions paid particular attention to the most vulnerable categories of citizens: the elderly; citizens living alone or isolated; individuals abusing alcohol; unemployed citizens; and families in socially dangerous situations.
During the activities, commission members checked the operational status of gas equipment, autonomous fire alarms, electrical wiring, and stove heating systems. Assistance was offered to elderly individuals by representatives of the territorial centre for social services to the population.
Thus, no serious violations were identified in over seventy surveyed households. However, in houses where the stove heating was in a critical condition, representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed the owners of the urgent need to rectify all violations. The quality of the repairs will be personally inspected in three days, and if not executed properly, administrative measures will be taken against the owners of these houses.
Furthermore, members of the review commission reiterated fire safety rules and the proper use of electrical equipment to all homeowners. Each citizen received a leaflet on adhering to life safety regulations.
