Upon receiving information about heavy snowfall:

• refrain from travelling around the town by private car;
• park your car in a garage; if no garage is available, park it away from trees;
• while outdoors, avoid dilapidated structures and buildings with unstable roofs;
• stay clear of trees, various high-risk structures (bridges, overpasses, pipelines, power lines, potentially hazardous industrial facilities);
• beware of parts of structures and objects hanging over buildings, broken power lines, broken glass, and other sources of danger;
• teach children how to act during severe weather.

Upon receiving a warning about a severe snowstorm:

• close windows, doors, attic hatches, and ventilation openings;
• remove items from balconies and windowsills that could be caught by the wind;
• try to avoid travelling.

If you are indoors:

• if possible, do not go outside;
• if it is necessary, inform family members or neighbours where you are going and when you will return;
• try not to go out alone.

If you are on the road:

• travel only on main roads and highways;
• when leaving the car, do not stray out of sight;
• in case of malfunction or very poor visibility: turn on
• hazard lights, pull over to the side of the road, wait for assistance in the car, keep the engine running, slightly opening a window for ventilation and to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
