19 December, Minsk /Tatsiana Lobas - BELTA/. After anomalously warm weather in the first half of December, air temperature will gradually decrease this week, Lyudmila Parashchuk, chief meteorologist of the Republican Hydrometeorological Centre, told a BELTA correspondent.
In Gomel, Mogilev and eastern Vitebsk regions, snow is expected and a significant snow cover will be established under the influence of a cyclone moving from Ukraine to the Moscow region. In the rest of the country, no snow is expected until Friday.
On Tuesday, cloudy weather with clear spells is forecast. It will be mostly without precipitation at night, and precipitation, mainly in the form of wet snow, is possible in the southeast during the day. Ice is expected on some sections of roads. The wind will be southerly, shifting to north-easterly during the day, from 4 to 9 metres per second. At night in the north, wind gusts will increase to 14 metres per second. Air temperature at night will be between 0 and minus 6 degrees Celsius, and during the day it is expected to be from minus 3 to plus 2 degrees Celsius.
On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, air temperature at night will be between 2-8 degrees below zero, and up to minus 10 degrees Celsius in clear spells. Daytime temperature will mainly range from zero to minus 5 degrees Celsius.
On the weekend, cyclonic activity in the North Atlantic will intensify again, and weather conditions in many European countries, including Belarus, will change. Precipitation in the form of snow and wet snow is expected in most of our republic. The wind will strengthen. Air temperature will again approach the zero mark. At night, 0-minus 6 degrees Celsius is expected. During the day, it is forecast from minus 2 degrees Celsius in the east of the country to plus 4 degrees Celsius in the southwest of Brest region.-0-
