This issue is under special control of the State Automobile Inspectorate (GAI): it is the cause of every 9th accident due to driver fault. In the current year, 80 road traffic accidents have occurred due to such violations, resulting in 3 fatalities and 100 injuries.
As part of the Unified Road Safety Day, GAI officers will conduct additional preventive discussions with drivers, reminding them about choosing a safe speed, the consequences of accidents, and liability.
Exceeding the speed limit by 10 to 20 km/h incurs a fine of up to one base unit, by up to 30 km/h – up to three base units, and by 40 km/h or more – up to 12 base units. A repeat violation of this kind within a year may result in a fine of up to 15 base units or deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for up to one year.
