A decrease in all types of crimes has been recorded for January-November in the Vitebsk region, as reported to BELTA correspondent by Oksana Baleeva, Head of the Department for Supervision of Legality of Court Rulings in Criminal Cases and Analysis of Judicial Practice of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office. In total, over 11 months of the current year, 14.3 thousand crimes were committed in the region, which is 12% lower than in the same period last year. In the reporting period, there were 22% fewer murders (39 cases), 53.3% fewer attempted murders (7), 29.2% fewer grievous bodily injuries (153), robberies decreased by 33.8% (47), thefts by 25.5% (371), and burglaries by 4.6% (7.8 thousand). The number of frauds, hooliganism, extortion, vehicle thefts, and grave and especially grave crimes has also decreased. Oksana Baleeva noted the positive trend of a 19.2% decrease in recidivist crimes (4.1 thousand), a 19.3% decrease in crimes committed by groups of individuals (836), and a 10.9% decrease in juvenile delinquency. Law enforcement officers have worked effectively in uncovering corruption-related crimes. From January to November, 329 such cases were identified, which is 7.5% more compared to the same period last year. The overall crime detection rate in the region was 63.5%. At the same time, murders, attempted murders, extortion, and robberies are almost completely solved. The detection rate for fraud was 83%, hooliganism - 78.4%, car thefts - 75%, and residential burglaries - 59.2%. -0-
