4 May, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. 17 piglets were stolen from a pig complex in the Postavy district, the official representative of the Investigative Committee Department for the Vitebsk region, Inna Gorbacheva, told a BELTA correspondent.
Between April 16 and May 1, piglets weighing a total of 463 kg and valued at Br23.3 million were stolen from the guarded pig complex. The shortage of animals was discovered during a routine inventory. Based on the theft, the Postavy District Department of the Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case under Article 205, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, which provides for up to three years of imprisonment.
During operational-search activities, two of the stolen animals were found alive in the shed of an employee, a main feeder operator born in 1959. A criminal case has been initiated against the woman for theft under a similar article. Her involvement in the theft of the remaining piglets is being established. An investigation is underway. -0-
