Vitebsk and Kashkadarya Regions Plan to Conclude Partnership Agreement by the End of 2022

The draft of the future document, as well as the main directions of the roadmap for its implementation, were discussed during the visit of an official delegation from the Kashkadarya region (Republic of Uzbekistan) led by Deputy Governor Utkirjon Kadirov to the Vitebsk region on August 26.

During a working meeting at the regional executive committee, Deputy Chairperson of the regional executive committee Anzhelika Nikitina noted that a full-scale cooperation agreement could provide a powerful impetus for the development of interaction in all areas. The Vitebsk region has well-developed petrochemical and light industries, the agricultural sector, the production of pharmaceutical and veterinary drugs, and scientific, technical, and innovative activities. It is in these areas that it has been decided to focus attention at this stage of interaction.

According to Utkirjon Kadirov, Belarus is a leading state for Uzbekistan in the scientific and innovation spheres, including the level of cooperation between science and production. Therefore, the Kashkadarya region expects to establish close contact with representatives of the Vitebsk region for the exchange of innovations in veterinary medicine, the agro-industrial complex, and petrochemistry. These sectors are also well-developed in the Uzbek region, so establishing an exchange of knowledge and competencies, and working out joint cooperation projects can be mutually beneficial.

Belarusian veterinary drugs have proven themselves well in the Uzbek market, so representatives of the Kashkadarya region are ready to provide their platforms for the development of similar production.

Interaction in the light industry and transport and logistics sphere can become a separate area of cooperation.

— Our region is one of the leaders in Uzbekistan in cotton cultivation and textile production. But the market demands new approaches and products with new quality, so we are particularly interested in the experience and developments of the Vitebsk region in working with flax, in combining the existing properties of the material and transferring them to new product groups, — noted Utkirjon Kadirov.

All these proposals, after testing and coordination with all interested parties, are planned to be included in the official documents on partnership between the regions.

During the visit, representatives of the Uzbek delegation visited the State Enterprise "Vitebsk Concern "Meat and Dairy Products" where they discussed the possibilities of establishing a trading house that will handle the supply of products from Kashkadarya and Vitebsk producers, as well as the participation of representatives from the Vitebsk region in a project to organize an agro-industrial park in the Kashkadarya region.

The possibilities of expanding shoe production in the Uzbek market became the subject of negotiations with the management of the "Marko" holding. The well-known Vitebsk shoe manufacturer has been developing joint production in Uzbekistan for several years.

— The enterprise enjoys a very high reputation in our market; moreover, it is considered one of the growth points of the local economy, — noted Utkirjon Kadirov.

At a meeting in the rectorate of Vitebsk State Medical University, the Uzbek delegation proposed that the Vitebsk university participate in a project to create an international medical training center in the Kashkadarya region.
