13 March, Vitebsk /BELTA/. The state and prospects of trade and economic cooperation between the Vitebsk region and the regions of the Russian Federation will be the subject of the next meeting of the Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia on Economic Policy. It will be held today in Vitebsk, BELTA was informed by the press service of the assembly.
The agenda of the meeting also includes the discussion of a prospective project in the economic sphere of the Union State: the concept of the scientific and technical program "Creation of a scientific and technological platform for the pharmaceutical industry for the production of highly effective and biologically safe functional food products, hygiene and medicinal products of a new generation based on lactoferrin and other human proteins". The project is planned for implementation in 2014-2018 and is being prepared for consideration at a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State.
At the meeting, representatives of ministries and departments of Belarus and Russia will provide information on the progress of the preparation of the Union State program "Innovative development of potato and Jerusalem artichoke production" with a completion date of 2016. The project of this program is intended to be submitted for approval by the Council of Ministers of the Union State.
In addition, the Union parliamentarians will consider organizational issues, approve the commission's work plan for 2013, and discuss budgetary matters.
In addition to the Union parliamentarians, representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State, ministries and departments of Belarus and Russia, the scientific community of the two countries, as well as the leadership of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies will take part in the commission's meeting.
During their stay in the Vitebsk region, the deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly plan to visit the production republican unitary enterprise "Vitebskoblgaz" and agricultural enterprise "MazolovoGaz".-0-
