It should be noted that in March, pupils of general secondary and secondary vocational education institutions in our district voted for 27 individuals who will represent the interests of young Lepel residents for two years.
The meeting was attended by Yuri Derkach, member of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Education, Science, Culture and Social Development, Igor Urban, Chairman of the District Council of Deputies, and other representatives of the local authorities.
For the conduct of the meeting, the secretary was elected – Liliya Krivets, a student of the Stayskaya Secondary School, as well as a counting commission, which included Karina Tukhto from Secondary School No. 3 and Polina Zayats from the Gymnasium named after I. M. Yerashov.
Maxim Sadovsky, a student of the Agrarian-Technical College, was elected to the honorary position of Chairman of the Chamber by a majority of votes.
Viktoria Pshonko, First Secretary of the District Committee of the NGO "BRSM", addressed the attendees with a welcoming speech:
-- Representatives of the Youth Chamber are, first and foremost, active and creative residents of Lepel who participate in all sorts of contests and events. The composition of the chamber is constantly changing as young people enter other educational institutions or move to other cities. But they are replaced by equally proactive and creative young people. They always have ideas and many suggestions. I wish you a creative approach and constructive ideas.
Then, Nikita Mironovich, who served as chairman of the 2nd convocation of the Youth Chamber in 2019-2020, addressed his colleagues:
-- Our life over these two years has been very active and diverse. Chamber members took part in the implementation of numerous patriotic campaigns, such as "We are Citizens of Belarus," "Flowers of Great Victory," "Belarus - a Source of Inspiration," "Belarus Remembers," "Memory of the Heart." Active volunteer work is carried out in our district; we participated in the improvement of monuments to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, in the campaign "Restoration of the Shrines of Belarus" for the landscaping and tidying up around churches located in the Lepel district, and many other events.
I am confident,
that over these two years our district will be able to take another huge step towards becoming an ideal place for children and teenagers. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped us in the implementation of our ideas and goals. I am confident that in the near future our youth will be just as active, as the development of our district depends on them. Also, during the meeting, standing commissions were established: on education and career guidance for schoolchildren; on promoting physical culture and sports, and propagating a healthy lifestyle among youth; on organising leisure activities and holding cultural and mass events for youth; on civic and patriotic education of youth and prevention of offences among youth; on ecology, development of the volunteer movement, and relations with public organisations and the media.
The Chairman of the District Council of Deputies, Igor Urban, addressed the attendees with a parting word:
-- The experience and knowledge you will gain while working in the Youth Chamber will definitely be useful to you in the future. This activity will allow you to become more familiar with the system of local governance and self-governance, and you will also have the opportunity to take an active part in the development of youth projects. The main thing is to believe in yourself and your strengths, and not to be afraid of the new.
Yuri Derkach also addressed the members of the Youth Chamber:
— We place great hopes on you. Our predecessors have done a lot of good things, and your task is to continue and multiply them. The younger generation is the future of our country. You will write the history of the district, and glorify it with your deeds. Propose ideas, be active, and then you will succeed. May your initiatives and ideas be realised.
In conclusion of the meeting, Alesya Golovach, chief specialist of the District Council of Deputies, conducted a quiz on the state structure of the Republic of Belarus. It is worth noting here that the youth of Lepel possess sufficient information in this area.
