This point of view was expressed to journalists by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Belarus, Rosemary Thomas. She is currently on an introductory visit to the Vitebsk region, BELTA correspondent reports.
According to the ambassador, British companies have successful experience in outsourcing (a type of service involving the transfer of certain functions to another company specializing in the relevant field. - BELTA's note) the creation and support of software products to Belarusian IT companies. Cooperation in this area needs to be developed, the ambassador believes.
Speaking about the export of Belarusian goods to the United Kingdom, Rosemary Thomas noted that its basis consists of oil refining products. However, this trade direction should not be the only one. The expansion of trade ties is possible through food products, as well as the textile and machine-building industries.
The ambassador is visiting the Vitebsk region for the first time. The visit program includes a meeting with the First Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Vladimir Novatsky, a visit to the "Vitebsk" Free Economic Zone, and a meeting with representatives of the FEZ residents. The ambassador also plans to visit SOOO "Fortex - Water Technologies", meet with students and faculty of Vitebsk State University, and visit the Mark Chagall House-Museum.-0-
