The EdCamp forum, to be held in Minsk on 12-13 October, will bring together over 200 participants. Teachers from various Belarusian cities, representatives of businesses, state educational institutions, as well as foreign experts in pedagogy will gather in one venue to share their experience, the organisers informed BELTA.
During the forum, teachers will be able to propose and select topics in real time, and every idea will be heard. The theme of the event is cooperation, which will be considered with the aim of improving education at three levels. Firstly, establishing cooperation between sectors: government, business, and civil society. Each of these structures contributes to education, not always knowing how others work in this area. Only close interaction will make it possible to achieve results. Secondly, establishing contacts between school teachers. Professor John Hattie, author of authoritative research on the impact on learning effectiveness, states that cooperation between educators yields the strongest results among other factors in improving the quality of education. Thirdly, an important element of learning is establishing cooperation between school administration and teachers, teachers and parents, as well as among students themselves.
The topics discussed will be able to give the education system a boost and practical recommendations for qualitative changes in educational content, socialisation, and self-realisation in a global information society.
Speakers at the event will include experts from the United Kingdom, Poland, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, and Japan.
EdCamp (Education Camp) is an international initiative that originated among teachers in the USA and has spread worldwide. To date, over 1,500 events in 35 countries have brought together 120,000 teachers and those interested in improving the educational process for open exchange of pedagogical experience, cooperation, and problem-solving. Belarus became the 26th country in the world to develop the EdCamp initiative three years ago.
