27 January, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Firefighters in Postavy rescued a disabled person from a burning apartment today and extinguished the fire, the Vitebsk Regional Emergency Situations Department informed a BELTA correspondent.
At 12:31 PM, the Postavy District Department for Emergency Situations received a report of a fire in a house in Postavy. Firefighters discovered open burning of property in a room of a semi-detached residential building. They carried out the 49-year-old owner, who had recently suffered a stroke, from the burning apartment. The man moved around the house using a stool, and when he discovered the fire, he attempted to extinguish it himself. However, due to impaired motor functions, he fell and could not get up. He was taken to the district hospital with a diagnosis of II-III degree burns to the lower body over an area of 10-15%. As a result of the fire, bedding, property, and walls in the room were damaged. The adjacent apartment was not affected; its residents were at work.
The cause of the fire was a heating and cooking stove left unattended. -0-
