Law enforcement officers must serve as an example to everyone in terms of observing the law, stated Ivan Kubrakov, Head of the Internal Affairs Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, at a press conference, responding to a question from a BELTA correspondent.
"Any violation of the established order of official activity, and even more so an offense by police officers, has a negative public resonance and undermines the authority of the internal affairs bodies. Therefore, in case of the emergence and confirmation of such facts, the harshest measures are applied to employees who discredit the uniform," emphasized Ivan Kubrakov.
As an example, he cited the detection in 2017 of two employees involved in the production and sale of moonshine. Each of them was subjected to the maximum possible fine and dismissed.
According to the Head of the Internal Affairs Department, the internal affairs bodies pay close attention to increasing public trust. Intransigence towards violators of the law, especially within their own ranks, has been and remains a priority area of activity. At the same time, one of the main tasks of the internal security service remains the protection of employees from unfounded discreditation.
In particular, last year, video clips with offensive content directed at the Ushachi police were discovered on the internet. The author made accusations against the employees, and the comments were made in offensive language. The investigation established that three residents of Ushachi were involved in the creation and posting of the video clips. Administrative protocols for insult and slander have been drawn up against them, which are being considered by the court.
