To monitor fire safety at construction sites in Lepel district, employees of the supervision and prevention sector of the Lepel District Department for Emergency Situations, together with a correspondent from the newspaper "Lepelsky Krai", conducted technical measures at particularly significant construction projects in the district: the construction of a new kindergarten and a sports and recreation center in the town of Lepel.
Special attention was paid to mobile (movable) construction trailers and other temporary structures at construction sites, the so-called "vagon-bytovki" (living trailers), as these are most often the sites of fires at construction grounds.
According to regulations, one of the requirements that rescuers focused on was the use of factory-made stoves, as homemade stoves had not undergone testing and are not as reliable as manufactured ones. Autonomous fire alarms, whose task is to notify of a fire and thus save human lives, were also not overlooked. Fire extinguishers and the rules for their use were also given considerable attention.
During the measures, no major violations were identified in the main part; however, there were sites where managers and officials of construction organizations did not approach fire safety provision with full responsibility.
During the measures, information on violations of fire safety requirements was communicated to employees of contracting organizations, and immediate response measures were taken to eliminate all identified violations.
