25 April, Vitebsk /Alena Tikhonova - BELTA/. In the current year, social assistance has been provided to 400 veterans of the Great Patriotic War in the Vitebsk region, the Committee for Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.

In the first quarter of this year, a comprehensive survey of the living conditions of 3,223 veterans of the Great Patriotic War was conducted. It was established that 575 veterans require social assistance (including 327 participants and 120 disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War).

"In winter, assistance was provided with fuel procurement and supply. Currently, the most pressing issues are housing repairs, cultivation of household plots, and home-based social services. All veteran requests will be fulfilled, and everyone in need will receive assistance," the committee assured.

The issue of providing housing for veterans of the Great Patriotic War is also being considered. There are 8 representatives of this category on the waiting list for housing improvement (3 people in Vitebsk, 2 in Novopolotsk, one each in Orsha, Liozno District, and Orsha District).

"All veterans of the Great Patriotic War who needed social housing in the Vitebsk region have received it. These eight individuals live with relatives and declined social apartments at the time. In the near future, we will re-examine the living conditions of each of them and offer options for housing improvement," specialists noted.
