The Educational Institution "Lepel Children's Art School" is one of the largest educational institutions in the cultural sphere of the Lepel district. The institution was established in 1958. The school includes four branches – "Borovskaya Children's Art School", "Domzheritskaya Children's Art School", "Zaslonovskaya Children's Art School", "Stayskaya Children's Art School of Traditional Culture". The student body comprises over 1000 individuals aged from 3 to 16 years. Departments operate in the following areas: "Music", "Choreography", "Theatre", "Fine Arts", "Folk Art", "Folk Decorative and Applied Arts", as well as a self-supporting department where individuals of various age categories can study. Preparatory groups for early creative development for preschool children are also open.

On the basis of the art school, creative groups operate, nine of which have the titles "Honoured", "Exemplary", "Folk": Honoured Amateur Collective of the Republic of Belarus, Exemplary Folklore Collective "Sunichki" (Head: Kazhemskaya A.V., until 2024 – Khombak V.A.), Exemplary Theatre of Folk Song "Valoshki" (Head: Shipulya L.F.), Exemplary Children's Choir "Akvarel" (Head: Belskaya I.A.), Exemplary Brass Band "Fortissimo" (Head: Gegelsky N.I.), Exemplary Theatre-Studio "Syurpriz" (Head: Belenkov Yu.V.), Exemplary Dance Ensemble "Ocharovashki" (Head: Perepechko A.V., until 2024 - Bylinskaya D.G.), Exemplary Choreographic Ensemble "Zateya" (Head: Shestalo S.M.), Folk Instrumental Ensemble "Vstrecha" (Head: Tereshchenko V.S.), Folk Vocal Group of Teachers "Campanella" (Head: Sokolovskaya I.V.).

The Lepel Children's Art School provides optimal conditions for the purposeful development of each child's general culture, the cultivation of their creative abilities, and professional orientation in the arts. The main objectives of the school are to identify and realise the individual talents of students, and to create a unified creative space for the preservation and development of the cultural heritage potential through aesthetic, moral, and patriotic education of the younger generation.

Over many years, the Lepel Children's Art School has developed rich traditions, nurturing generations of young musicians, artists, and dancers. At the art school, children not only learn to play various instruments and master the fundamentals of singing and choreography but also actively participate in concerts and events of various levels. Annually, masterclasses, exhibitions of students from the art department, creative meetings with renowned cultural and art figures of Belarus are held, and concert performances by creative groups and students of the art school are organised on various concert venues in the city and the republic. The school's staff participated in the celebratory concert "Person of the Year of Vitebsk Region - 2022", festive events within the framework of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" International Arts Festival, the Gala Concert of Art Creativity Collectives of Vitebsk Region within the framework of the republican festival "Belarus – My Song", a festive concert within the framework of the patriotic forum dedicated to the Day of National Unity "This is OUR History" (2022), and "If We Are United" (2024). Students of the art school participated in the concert programme within the framework of the children's and youth cultural and educational project "We are the Musical Future of the Country".

Special attention is paid at the school to the creative realisation of gifted children. School students have repeatedly become laureates and diploma winners of prestigious competitions and festivals: the open regional review-competition of choreographic ensembles "Prydzvinskіya karunki" (Vitebsk), the regional review-competition of folklore skills of children and youth "Ad prashchurau – da zhor" (Rossony), the regional competition of children's orchestral ensembles "Zvuchashchaya partytura" (Novopolotsk), the regional competition of children's theatrical ensembles "Malaya stsena" (Vitebsk), the republican festival-competition "L'Vyonak" (Lida), the republican competition of young pianists named after I.N. Tashchilina (Minsk), the republican competition of young vocalists "Spiavayuts' khopchyki", the republican open competition of performers on folk instruments named after I.I. Zhinovich (Lida), the republican creative radio competition "Mladaya talenty Belarusi" (Minsk), the international children's competition "Muzyka nadezhdy" (Gomel), the international competition-exhibition of children's artistic creativity "Slavyanskiye uzory" (Beloyarsky, Russia). The school's team is the initiator and organiser of the open regional competition of ensemble collectives "Sozvuchye", which is held annually at the institution's premises. 13 students and creative ensembles of the Lepel Children's Art School have been awarded the title of scholarship holders and prize winners of the special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the Support of Talented Youth.

Annually, the best graduates of the school who wish to dedicate their lives to art become entrants to higher and specialised secondary educational institutions in their chosen field in the Republic of Belarus.

The high level of student achievement is possible thanks to the school's teaching staff, the core of which consists of teachers who have been working at the school for over 15 years and possess extensive experience in teaching and educating children. All teachers of the Lepel Children's Art School have secondary specialised and higher education. More than 60% of the teachers hold the highest and first qualification categories.
